Definition

An adjective for setups where the model decides its own steps — calling tools, reading results, retrying — instead of producing one response to one prompt. It marks a usage pattern rather than a model property: the same weights can be used agentically or not. The term is loose and marketing-adjacent, so when a paper claims agentic behavior, check what autonomy was actually granted.
