Things a model can do, most often encountered as emergent abilities: skills that are absent in smaller models and appear to switch on past some scale. That framing has been contested — with smoother, partial-credit metrics many apparent emergences look continuous, suggesting the discontinuity lives in the measurement rather than the model. Near-synonymous with capabilities, though abilities leans toward observed behavior rather than the system's overall envelope.
